Lifetime educator, Dr. Mindy Shaw, maintained a philosophy in her classroom of 4 to 8 year olds to "teach humanity daily" in addition to the more traditional skill sets of reading, writing and math. Now, in an era of remote and hybrid learning, the notion of teaching humanity is somewhat threatened. She has created a series of e-books and paperbacks so that parents can have the tools they need for also teaching social and emotional skills, and in this series, Dr. Shaw discusses what it means to teach humanity both in general and in an era of learning via computer.

On this episode, Dr. Shaw takes a break from her recent podcast format whereby she has been sharing her 10 governing principles for effective communication with children. Those principles form an important opening section of her new parenting book which can be found here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WJRX7JF . The recent publishing of that book landed her once again on WDST-FM in Woodstock where she was a return guest on the Sunday show known as The Woodstock Roundtable. That program is hosted by Doug Grunther, and Dr. Shaw's recent guest appearance on that program made for a great discussion about her new parenting guide and about her work in general including all of her social and emotional learning books for children. This interview with Dr. Shaw was lively and interesting, so she decided to share it as this week's podcast. Enjoy.
