Lifetime educator, Dr. Mindy Shaw, maintained a philosophy in her classroom of 4 to 8 year olds to "teach humanity daily" in addition to the more traditional skill sets of reading, writing and math. Now, in an era of remote and hybrid learning, the notion of teaching humanity is somewhat threatened. She has created a series of e-books and paperbacks so that parents can have the tools they need for also teaching social and emotional skills, and in this series, Dr. Shaw discusses what it means to teach humanity both in general and in an era of learning via computer.

On her last podcast, Dr. Shaw shared a recent media appearance where she was interviewed about her work, but two episodes ago, Dr. Shaw wrapped up her discussion of her Ten Governing Principles that guide effective communication with children. The list of those principles and the discussion around them form the first major section of Dr. Shaw's new parenting guide available on Amazon. In the middle of that book there is a short children's book which serves as a model for why Dr. Shaw's style of communicating with young children is so effective, and in this podcast, along with a recap of recent events for Dr. Shaw and a recap of those 10 governing principles, there is a reading of the children's section of the parenting guide. What's most important is that the information and its practical application all blend together the way Dr. Shaw presents it.
